    Description

    Civil War patriotic cover, with a black illustration of the Union Navy Gunboat U.S.S. Mercedita, and with "Ship's Letter, U.S.S. Mercedita" printed at top right. At bottom is an extract from a speech by the Commander of the Mercedita, H.S. Stellwegen, to the Citizens of Apalachicola, (the Mercedita captured Apalachicola on April 3, 1862).
    A scarce patriotic cover meant to be used by members of the crew of U.S.S. Mercedita.
    Unused.
    Small light stains on the front, a couple small old mounting remnants on the backflap. Fine. The backflap is not stuck down.
