Antique 10" Carll Wrench, P.T. Co., Adjustable Nut / Pipe Wrench, Patent 1913

Description

For sale is a 10" Antique Adjustable Wrench Known as a Carll Wrench -- a unique adjustable with a reversible sliding jaw suitable for nuts or pipes.  The wrench is marked with the Patent date of 5/6/1913 -- U.S. Patent 1,060,891 Addison B. Carll.  This patented wrench was apparently made by multiple companies -- this one is marked P.T. Co. (Practical Tools Co., New York, NY, USA).
This used wrench is in good, fully functional condition.  The straight jaws have a good amount of wear and they were both filed some by a previous owner to try to clean them up.  The pipe jaw has some wear marks but is still in decent condition.  The adjustment works very smoothly in both directions with the jaw in either way.  The handle is clean and straight and all of the markings are clear.  There are no previous owner identification marks.
Most of the items I sell are from estate sales, auctions, flea markets, etc.
I clean them as necessary to properly evaluate the condition and allow you to judge the actual item rather than a previous owner’s dirt.
I want to know if the typical dirt and grime and/or harmless surface rust is covering any damage.
