Description

A nice, finely carved and intricate antique Japanese shibayama panel, featuring a samurai taking fruit. It is delicately carved, with bone, horn and mother of pearl inlays. Panel is lacquered wood, about 1/4" thick. Painting is highly detailed. I am no expert but I think this is from the meiji period, around 1880 to 1900.  As you can see in the photos, there is some damage to the samurai's robes. Other wear is commensurate with age.
