Description

Civil War Letter
Civil War Letter written by a soldier at the Headquarters of the 3rd Brigade at Manassas Junction (under General George Lucas Hartsuff) - he says they have marched over "vast amounts of ground" since they came from Fredericksburg, he describes in detail their travels via boat to Alexandria, VA and they had to "frog it" (chest or chin high in the river to approach Front Royal), references the local girls, visiting nearby forts and more!   I don't know the writer of this letter but perhaps more study will reward you.
