Description
An original Civil War letter written by a woman named Fanny. In one area it looks like she says,..............Bela Stone is lying very sick, with typhoid..............My cousin Charlie Leonard, who has been in Yale College the last two years belongs to the forty fifth Regiment now in camp near Boston he had a furlough a short time since and called last Sabbath to bid me a last good bye. He looked quite well in his soldiers suit and I can but respect him for leaving his studies and volunteering his services at such a time as this................. At the top of the letter there is some additional writing which reads.......Our neighbor Mr Chase has just enlisted and starts tomorrow for Worcester. He is an abolitionist and since the 'Emancipation act" has felt it his duty to act his part.I currently have other letters listed that were written by this individual.
The letter has wear and stain marks.
