    Description

This was written in Camp Mangreon (Mangum), Wake County, NC from I. N. Sapp to his wife Lucy Sapp on April 21, 1862. The letter says he is well with the exception of sore eyes. He goes on to say he has not received a letter from her and hopes she will write. The camp has tolerable fare of tough wheat bread and beef and bacon. He hopes to go home soon, but it is hard to get away. He talks about people not having respect for a soldier and those people should be put to work digging up stumps for the rest of their days and have such fare as the soul. The letter continues about not going to Raleigh because of the rain and he will send her some money as soon as he gets his bounty money.

This is a very interesting letter, as this man clearly writes his thoughts. Transcription of letter is included.
