    Description

    An original Civil War letter. This letter is missing parts.  In one area it says,.......and marched as far as Beltsville and stoped there that is seven miles back of us, so you see that leavs our company out on picket and we are likely to remain our for some time..................We are about six miles from Washington and can see the Capitol from the highest ground near the camp and we are within range of thre forts  the nearest is fort Lincon it could shell our camp as nice as a pin.........
    The letter has wear and stain marks.
