Description

Civil War soldier letter, Edson (Emery) and Philo Emery both in the 2nd Vermont Infantry, writing from Camp Griffin Virginia, January 26 1862, first Edson then Philo (a shorter note), two full pages in ink.   Was on guard, out box of stuff not gone yet, one nag of sausage, butter, cheese, dried apples and sugar, mentions Bull Runner
Don't use my coat recognized as being 2nd Vermont, wear occasionally though, it went to Bull Run and I cherish it, more content.  Signs Edson
Philo writes that our regiment furnishes picked tomorrow, we have our marching tents and ready to make a move.  Philo died of his wounds that happened at Wilderness Overall VF.
