    Description

A not or document from Dellwood.  No date.  A message to mr. Griffin about pantaloons for the men servants.  Signed by AE Jones.  Arnold Elzey Jones (1816-1871) was a U.S. officer prior to the American Civil War and served with distinction during the second Seminol war and the Mexican American war.  In 1861 he surrendered Augusta Arsenals to the Confederacy and went to Washington D.C. to resign and then join the Confederacy in Maryland.  He was wounded during the war quite severely and placed on light duty for the remainder of the war.  A rare item, measures 7 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches, thanks for looking.
