Somei Yuki (結城素明, 1875-1957) was a Japanese-style painter. He was born in Tokyo pref. He became a pupil of Gyokusho Kawabata at the age of 15. He was an early exhibitor and frequent prize winner at the Bunten. He was a frequent juror for the Teiten from its foundation in 1919.
1875: Born in Tokyo pref.
1890: Became a pupil of Gyokusho Kawabata.
1897: Graduated from the Tokyo School of Fine Arts; turned for a short time to Western-style painting.
1900: Founded the Museikai with Hyakusui Hirafuku and others.
1917: Became one of the founders of the Kinreisha.
1923 to 1925: In Europe
1925: Became an member of the Imperial Fine Arts Academy.
1937: Became an member of the Imperial Art Academy.
1944: Awarded the 2nd Class Order of the Sacred Treasure
1945: Emeritus professor of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (present Tokyo University of Arts)
