This is an onionskin duplicate of the original letter between these famous Generals. Onionskin was an early form of carbon copy so this is an exact duplicate of the original letter as written.
It took me a very long time to transcribe it but I finally completed an accurate transcription with the help of the late Director of the Museum of the City of Mobile, my good friend Cauldwell Delaney. I obtained the letter when I lived in Mobile many years ago from a local antique documents dealer.
The content of the letter is quite interesting with Maury attempting to placate an obviously very frustrated Higgins.
I have compiled brief bio's. of each of the three officers Confederate service. Those documents will be included with the original onionskin duplicate (which is quite delicate).
The document would display great with an off-white non-acidic paper backing.
