Nice Collection of 8 Different ORIGINAL Unused Antique CIVIL WAR COLOR PATRIOTIC COVERS/ENVELOPES
DESCRIPTION:
Really great, and very unusual collection of 8 particularly nice, unused antique Civil War PATRIOTIC COVERS (ENVELOPES). Virtually all of them are fully, brightly colored. ALL HAVE PATRIOTIC OR POLITICAL THEMES OF THE DAY.
These were very popular during the early years of the war, 1861-62, with both civilians and the soldiers writing letters from the field, and where there was great patriotic fervor and feeling. Not seen or used much after that. So all are about 160 years old.
All have great patriotic or comical themes pointing fun at the Confederacy, Secession, or Jeff Davis specifically. Scans show them all. QUITE A NICE VARIETY. And most of these are brightly colored which are much less common. These are all unused. Several even have the publisher or printer on them!
Just as they came from an early collection, and in excellent condition.
They
would make a great and unusual gift for that special collector.
