Later from B. E. J. G. on her personal stationery with heading 815 Park Avenue and dated Nov. 17 (th?)?  laid in:
"Many years ago my dear friend - we had a huge bazaar for the Soldier's Home and for the fund for one Confederate 'Men's' monument--the Maryland soldiers & sailors - I conceived & carried out the idea the little work I send you - It was a great success - But to this day I remember how utterly worn out I was - !  A day or two ago I was looking [at] one of the little volumes - and thinking "Sallie" would love this - So here it comes - I am not like "Caleb" (? Joshua - ) & am not "as strong this day" as I was that day -  But my love of the Confederacy is as true & faithful - I have only two or three  copies - and they are very fragile, as you see - But they did good service to "the Cause" - and you will value them for that - as well as for the unreconstructed sender -
Affectionately
B. E. J. G.
Also laid in are two note pad slips Walker, Evans & Cogswell Charleston printers wit the quote? on each:  Troy has been great and great the glory of the trojans. (may have been added later and have nothing to do with this volume).
Covers are soiled and detached and a page or so is loose; edges of covers rubbed; some of the protective tissues is stained, lightly foxed, and crinkled; the specimens are in unexpectedly good condition; Battlefield of Sharpsburg may be missing a small piece; two pages had a loose specimen parts that required a tiny dab of
Elmers (hopefully undetectable).  I would have liked to have included photos of every poem and specimen and presented in a better way but owing to eBay's
picture limits and my poor computer skills, I had to select.  Contact me and I will try to email you the missing photos.
In conclusion, a remarkably good copy of a very rare piece of Confederate memorabilia.  I have no idea of its true value.  My price is an educated guess.
